I have been down for a while now.
The whole thing with my foot has had me in a real funk.
The other day I wrote a letter to a good friend of mine. Yes I said wrote a letter. She doesn't like the whole Internet thing, anymore. So her response would take a while. I more than respect her insight so I can wait.
She had a lot to tell me.
She said I should be thankful for the shit I have had to go through with my foot.
Kaye reminded me that the time I have had to myself for writing is, for me, a blessing from the Gods.
She put it not so delicately, “Do you have any idea how many people can even write A novel?
In the time you have been trying to recover from your foot injury. You have written 2 novels, several short stories, poems and blogs. She went on to kick my ass even more.
I needed to hear every word she had to say. She is right. I have been looking at the injury as a curse and I shouldn't have.
It has given me the opportunity to let my creative side free. She knows me well enough to know I have to be creative. She knows me so well.
I will thank her in person one of these days. Until then this will have to do.
With all my love, I thank you Kaye Stacy.
You are more than just a friend to me.
Forever yours.
Shaun
