Karma.

The baggage of the soul.

It comes with us, life to life.

How have we packed it for our trip.

Good and bad it tells our tale.

The more we share, the less we carry.

It’s not just stuff we pack away.

Feelings, fears and hopes.

The things we do both good and bad.

The accountant of our souls, we must pay its price.

To live and learn, that’s all it wants.

In all my lives, I watch and learn.

Makes me better than I started.

And not as wise as tomorrow.

This one I found very easy to write. I had gotten off the phone with a friend of mine. He was telling me about his ex-girlfriend. She was the type that used everyone she ever came in contact with. It seemed that every step of her life was another chance to screw someone over. My friend called to tell me that his ex, only twenty seven, had gone to the hospital feeling a little dehydrated. They showed her to an exam room. The doctor walked in seven minutes later and found her dead. Karma had said, Enough. I thought about this a long time. Karma is real and I have seen it work in the lives of others as well as my own. This particular case showed me the real power Karma has. It is something to think about and something I will never forget.
